Offshore wind project bids submitted by Commonwealth Wind (1,200 MW) and Mayflower Wind (400 MW) were selected Friday, December 17th, in Massachusetts’ third offshore wind solicitation. The selection was announced by Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Kathleen Theoharides, who said, “In structuring the Commonwealth’s third offshore wind procurement, the Baker-Polito Administration focused on delivering enhanced economic benefits for Massachusetts residents, affordable pricing for ratepayers, and the development of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce, and the projects selected through this competitive process deliver on those critical priorities.”
This is the second time each bidder has been selected in a Massachusetts offshore wind solicitation. An 800 MW project proposed by Commonwealth Wind was selected in the first solicitation (83C) and an 804 MW project proposed by Mayflower Wind was selected in the second solicitation (83C II). Selection of 1,600 MW in this third solicitation (83C III) doubles the amount of offshore wind secured by the Commonwealth. Final contract awards are subject to successful contract negotiations between the parties and required regulatory approvals. More information on the 83C III solicitation and the bids received can be found on the Massachusetts Clean Energy website here.
Our team here at Daymark is proud to have supported both bidders with multiple benefits analyses and summary reports that were submitted with the bids.
