Mr. Ballaban has extensive experience providing electric and gas industry clients with advisory services in pricing, cost of service, rate design, resource procurement, and competitive markets. He began his career in financial forecasting for what is now National Grid and then took on roles at other utilities and consulting firms, becoming an expert in an array of regulatory support services.
Michael Ballaban provides clients economic and financial analysis and strategic insights regarding the provision and pricing of retail and wholesale electricity and natural gas services. He has extensive experience providing regulatory advisory services in the areas of utility financial planning, cost of service studies, tariff structures, and rate design.

He joined Douglas Schwartz, Director of the Quinnipiac University Poll and other expert panelists to provide a top-tier analysis of the 2016 Elections and the significant impact they could have on New England's changing energy landscape.
Daymark Energy Advisors consultant Dimitri Kordonis recently attended a new regional forum on electricity and gas in the PJM Interconnection region, which is comprised of 13 states and the District of Columbia. PJM coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity and operates the electric transmission grid serving all or part of these regions.
Daymark Principal Consultant Stan Faryniarz was a featured speaker at Renewable Energy Vermont's 2016 Conference & Expo (REV 2016) in Burlington, Vermont, where he addressed the market status, economics and future evolution of energy storage in a seminar session titled "Storage Project & Policy Successes: Enhancing Renewables' Integration & Resilience."

The state of Massachusetts recently completed an assessment on energy storage, titled State of Charge: Massachusetts Energy Storage Initiative Study, a yearlong comprehensive energy storage study by the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC). The study evaluates and demonstrates the benefits of deploying energy storage technologies in Massachusetts and also analyzes the economic benefits and market opportunities for energy storage in the state.

The study, conducted by Daymark Energy Advisors and released by the New England Coalition for Affordable Energy, found that New England is at greater risk of higher energy costs and price volatility than estimated a year ago. It also found that recent delays and cancellations of energy projects in the region combined with new energy policies could have greater adverse economic consequences through 2020 than previously estimated.
Daymark Energy Advisors’ Principal Consultant Stan Faryniarz recently attended the Northeast Public Power Association (NEPPA) annual conference in Lake Placid, NY. NEPPA is a private, non-profit trade association that represents and serves 21 consumer-owned utilities in New England.
The four-day annual conference included presentations and expert roundtables that assessed the current state of the energy markets and provided education on northeastern state and federal government initiatives and regulatory environments.
Recently, Daymark Principal Consultant and Vice President Kathy Kelly moderated a panel on Restructured Energy Markets & the Grid of the Future at the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association's (NECA) New England Energy Conference and Exposition.
The panel discussion focused primarily on identifying necessary actions to remove current barriers to the success of the grid of the future.

March 11, 2014: Daymark has filed our review of Manitoba Hydro’s proposal to build the Keeyask and Conawapa dams and associated transmission facilities. The analysis, including financial modeling, contract review, transmission economics analysis and risk assessment, was conducted on behalf of Manitoba’s Public Utilities Board which appointed Daymark to its team of independent experts providing technical advice on the $16.4 billion projects.
Update: On July 2, 2014, Manitoba’s Public Utilities Board issued its report with recommendations to the Government of Manitoba regarding Manitoba Hydro’s proposal.

Daymark teamed with ESS Group to provide the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission with a comprehensive economic valuation of the fossil, hydro and biomass generating assets of Public Service Company of New Hampshire as well as the market value of the Purchased Power Agreements with the Lempster Wind and Burgess BioPower facilities.
